The art project for the Vietnam Health Clinic donation is complete!
I am so pleased with how this artwork has turned out. I am in love!
This piece features an imperial dragon, a Vietnamese pheasant, a turtle, bamboo, a dragon fruit flower, and a mangrove. The dragon and pheasant are flanked by these other images because of their significance (the dragon and bird) in the Vietnamese Creation Story. I chose a pheasant to represent Âu Cơ because it it mentioned that she is often represented by a bird. I could not for the life of me find any reference to the specific bird used. I did find a photograph that basically represents the same thing seen here with a dragon and a bird that looks very similar to a pheasant, it is possible that it is a phoenix-like bird.
